Myanmar has just been hit by its deadliest and most destructive earthquake in centuries. In a country already torn apart by civil war, economic instability, and limited international support, the situation is catastrophic. The death toll will rise, and entire communities—including Bagan’s historic cultural sites—have been reduced to rubble.
In light of this tragedy—and with major aid like USAID funding recently cut—they need our help more than ever. I’m attempting to raise funds to deliver essential supplies and support to people near Mandalay and the wider region, where I have trusted local contacts. Given my open schedule for the next two weeks, contacts in the region, and current proximity, I think I have a unique opportunity to channel your support to them. If it is safe to do so and after rescue operations are complete, my goal is to travel there this week and manage every dollar myself to ensure the aid gets directly to the people and organizations who need it most.
If you’re able to donate, even a small amount goes a long way. I’ll share updates and a public ledger of all funds raised and how they’re spent.
